Edible Woman are glad to announce the release of their fourth studio album Nation on February 22nd 2013; the album recorded live by Mattia Coletti at Vacuum Studios in Bologna, it will be publi- shed by the Italian label Santeria and distributed in Italy by Audioglobe, while the English label RoughTrade will take care of its European distribution. Nation tries to portray the exact moment when something is about to explode, both musically and lyrically, the instant anticipating the explosion, the moment of extreme tension, coldly depicted and furiously executed simultaneously.
Mashrooms was born in 1999 in Siracusa, a nice seaside town lying on the southern east coast of Sicily. The first four element’s sound was affected by the beauty and the brutality of our land. And because of this ambiguity the initial project was struggling to find its own identity.
As time went on, the band released its first full length studio album (Welcome to Spackentown) in 2004 for the small home made label Arsonica. Since that first “post-rock” opera, the several shows all over Italy and the time helped the project - bringing together five people now - to grow in authenticity and to find its own musical identity.
Later on Mashrooms was identified more and more as a “rock-orchestra”, it released two more albums thanks to two extraordinary labels (Zahr rec. first and Wild Love rec. after) and never stopped to tour throughout Europe over the past years. As the music industry is rowing against the small independent labels, their chances to survive in the big ocean are getting uncertain and fewer than before.
After 14 years Mashrooms is however more alive than ever and ready to give birth to its fourth album.
Anno 2014.
